How To Make Money Affiliate Marketing On Twitter 2019

For this article, I am going to explain how to start affiliate marketing from scratch using the Twitter social media platform. But first some background information:

What is affiliate marketing and how does it work? 

At its core, affiliate marketing is a relatively simple idea. As an affiliate marketer, your goal is to connect buyers to products they might want. In return, you earn a commission from the company that sells the product.

Now that leads us to the big question:

What do I need to start affiliate marketing on Twitter?

Let's start by listing out the things you will need. I will detail how to accomplish these goals soon.

1. A Twitter account with a profile picture and handle relevant to your product and market.

2. Content that people want. Content is your product which draws in viewers. You will want to focus on this aspect the most. 

3. Followers who like your content. 

4. An affiliate marketing platform. I use MaxBounty. They are open to new marketers learning the ropes. I will explain more about them later. 

How to accomplish these goals:

Making your Twitter Account:

Step 1: Picking A Topic

Whatever you pick should be very specific. If your topic is too broad, you won't know the audience as well as you should. A quick search on Twitter will show you if there is a market for this type of content.

You should also be passionate about your topic. Passion shines through to the audience. As a result, you will put more time and quality into what you post. Your audience will appreciate this.

Step 2: Decide Your Twitter Handle

Your handle should relate to your topic. You might need to get a bit creative here. The handle you select might already be taken. It is okay to add an underscore in between words or an extra word if need be. I definitely wouldn't start adding numbers or other random symbols though.

Step 3: Create A Header And Profile Pic

These photos should capture the idea of your topic. You can use an image of yourself or design a logo in photoshop. Either way, the photo should be related to your topic and audience.

Step 4: Write A Good Bio

A good bio is more important than you think. Besides your profile pic, this is the first thing someone sees when they land on your page. Use your bio to showcase your personality and what your page will be about in a few sentences.

Step 5: Turn On Twitter Analytics 

Twitter Analytics will be your best friend. Analytics will track the stats on each of your posts. It will follow how much engagement each post gets as well as record follows generated by each of your posts.

Now that you have your account set up, let's move on to the next task:

Creating Content

Step 1: Research What The Market Likes

Search Twitter for your competition. See who has a lot of followers creating similar posts to what you want to do. Notice the patterns of how they post (how many posts per day, what the posts look like, the subtopics they switch between, etc.).

Your competition will be a very important part of establishing your own presence. We will talk more on that later.

Step 2: Begin Creating Content

Now that you know what you want to post and what the market likes, you should begin creating content. Don't worry about followers just yet. No one likes an empty page. Start by making a few quality posts.

Limit your use of hashtags. Yes, you can gain some traffic by using them. However, too many hashtags will make your post seem cluttered.

Step 3: Plan Ahead

Start brainstorming ideas for posts. Whenever you have an idea, write it down. You will need to provide consistent content which should be 2-3 posts per day. You can search what other people are posting about to gather ideas and know what's trending.

Step 4: Deleting Posts

The analytics tool will come in handy here. Pay attention to your average amount of engagement and comments on posts. You don't have to worry about this until you start seeing how much engagement your posts are getting. If one gets considerably less than usual, you might want to consider deleting it for better content.

Getting Twitter Followers:

Step 1: Track Who Follows/Unfollows You

I use an app called Followers. The Followers app provides great tools for tracking your followers gained/lost.

Step 2: Follow Your Competitor's Engagement

As silly as it seems, this is the quickest way to begin building your following.  Heres what you have to do:

1. Go to your competitor's page.

2. Find a post most similar to the type of content you are posting

3. View the people/pages who retweeted that content

4. Just start following all of them!

A small percentage of those people will follow you back. After a few days, you can start unfollowing people who didn't.

Step 3: Create Engagement Off Your Competitor's Posts

Posting great content in the comments section of your competitor's post can be a great way to establish a presence.

Likes and comments make you stick out. People who like what you write will start checking out your profile. Eventually, consistent recognition will lead to follows.

Step 4: Promoting Content

Although I highly recommend this step, you could theoretically do without it. Promoting content expedites the process of establishing a following considerably.

I won't go into this step in too much detail here. Promoting your content allows you to pay money to put posts in front of a targeted audience. You will want to do this with one of your better posts.

Promoted posts will show up in the feed of a specific targeted audience. Now your content is in front of many people who likely would have never seen it. Promoted posts can boost your following in a short span of time.
